Roll Call.

There's about 40-50 people who read this blog about once every three or four days, and another set of random visitors totaling about 10 people a day. My peak daily visit count was 62 visitors in one day on a day recently when I didn't even make a post.

So, who are you visitors? You know a bunch about me, and I'd like to know a little about you, beyond what your favorite Dollar Menu item is or an estimate of your "regular" order.

Take a few minutes and tell me your name, where you're from, your role in your McDonald's (if you have one), and if you feel like giving me appreciative or constructive feedback, by all means, please do so.

Thanks.

  1. Michael,

Sad that I'm the first one, since you and I had contact this past week. BTW....had day one of OJE today. Day two was cancelled as no further observation was necessary per Area Manager. Just have to agree on salary now. Meeting at 2:00 tomorrow. Let's hope all goes well. I'm ready to start the next day.

  4. Hey...I actually just ran into your blog tonight. I am enjoying reading it...very motivating!!!

I absolutely LOVE my job (swing manager, ASM soon, SW-FLA).

I just finished reading your first blog....and it is a good question, why Mc. Donald's?

In my mid-twenties....to BS degrees, and co-ownership of a flooring company...I am finally happy.

I cannot wait for tomorrow, my day off, to get rested and pumped up for Wednesday!!! Time to set some records!!!

    Thank you for writing :)

  8. I might as well chime in on how I stumbled across this site.

I'm a crew member at a McD in southeast Iowa. One thing that worries me is that when cleaning grills there's a whole lot of smoke that comes up when the grill cleaner (for those of you who don't know this is a mean acid that can/will kill you if ingested) touches the grill. This smoke smells bad, irritates my eyes, and is generally impossible to completely avoid inhaling.

I've been trying to find safety information on this with google. The search words "grill cleaner", "smoke", and "McDonalds" led me to one of your updates.

That's how I came to find this site. :) I still haven't been able to find any real information on the problem.

  11. hey, im 21 and in college, and i am a shift manager, and my store manager is so awesome he actually lets me come in whenever I want. I'm a full-time student, so I can only afford to work about 16 hrs a week. But my crew loves me, but mcdonalds management is just a beginning for me.

  12. I find your blog really helpful for me. I am just crew(soon to be promoted to manager), and I find it is very frustating when I am trying to follow the rules and everyone around me wants to do it there way. It is nice to hear from someone else that they face the same thing every day.

I've only read parts of this blog, but you joys and frustrations seem very similar to mine in many respects.

You seem to be doing well with McDonald's and I wish you all the very best mate!

  16. Hi!

I'm a crew member still, but about to take responsiblity of equipment maintenance at my store and soon to be verified crew trainer.

I'm from Sweden, and your blog is really interesting to read as I get prepared to start my move on upward. It's cool to read how much is the same over there, though it shouldn't have come as surprise...

  20. My name is Brianne, I am eighteen years old and I work at an Ohio McDonald's. I am enrolled in the MIT program and just started my SMX classes last week.

I've only been working for McDonald's for about ten months, but the job has offered me many new experiences so far. I hope to continue my career with McDonald's but I would like to know all about the ups and downs. I'm thinking of possibly going salary later down the line...

  22. Hello Michael
My name is "Lily" im a shift manager at a mcdonalds in florida. I really love reading your blogs because you remind me so much of my attitude towards work (sometimes). Im the only one in my store that does any preshift planning and daily weekly or monthly cleaning tasks and im the newest. Im competing for an assistant manager position that i believe im the most qualified for but the only thing holding me back is that ive only been a manager for a few months. but i already do the prep charts and cabinet charts and i know how to do schedules. Im an e-learning junkie.(my competitor doesnt know any of this) Well i think ive said too much about me, now on to more of your blogs :)

  25. Hello, do you still read these comments?

In any case, my name is Dimas and I've just recently been promoted to Store Manager. More than anything I want to say thank you, if it hadn't been for this blog and the encouraging posts herein I would have probably quit a few weeks ago. It's been a tough month in a terrible market that is run haphazardly but I have found your words to be a great reservoir of stamina.

    Cheers from Tyler, TX

  26. Hey Michael,
I've been reading your blog now for the past few days. I didn't read it very quickly because I'm as sick as a dog and sleep like 20 hours a day right now.
At the moment I'm a crew trainer at a McDonalds in the Netherlands. I will be promoted to Manager trainee within a few months.

I find your blog very inspiring and it shows me some of the problems (most of which I already have had since I was an ordinary crew member), that I will still encounter as manager.

    Great reading ;)

  27. Hey Michael,

Just came across your blog when searching up "McDonald's Action Plan" on Google. I am a Senior Assistant Manager in one of Aucklands (New Zealand) busiest stores and is currently in the process of completing my post Action Plan for my EMP class. Reading your blog made me feel motivated and keen to go higher on the McDonalds Chain. I am just so relieved that someone else other than me go through the same things! Keep up the GREAT work!
