Today, my whole team worked hard.
First of all, I showed up over two hours later. The reason is unimportant, the fact that it occurred sucks. The reason was, in fact, stupidity. I did not know my schedule for today.
So I showed up late, just in time to arrive before the Store Owner. Each of the organization level employees (there are three) has chosen one or two of the stores to be their focus. The owner chose my store. Our focuses are on inventory control including ordering the right products, get waste under control and other factors to food stat loss controlled, there are in fact a whole list of focuses listed out in a commitment we all signed last week Wednesday at our manager's meeting.
So today P. was at our store for 4 hours or so and he lately has been been at our store for at least 3 hours every day. It was a day of working hard but we all worked well together. There were rough moments and such, but it was still a relatively good day.
Myself and M., the only other manager I really respect as a professional, were discussing how well we each were doing with one another, how respectful we've been of each other and how hard we've been working for each other. I felt great to have someone I have a respect for tell me about their respect for me. That's why I work every day.

Ok, I am too a McD's manager. Working in the proud town of Madison Wisconsin, and I'm sorry, but I've never been late one day in my life, for any job.
I've had many other manager's call in or give an excuse if they're late, but man, you gotta understand that it sets a bad example for crew and other managers to show up late.
There is ultimately no excuse for showing up late, regardless of position, unless it's an emergency.
I respect and am honored by your blog, but man, don't be late. >.<

If I were your manager or owner, I'd fire your fucking ass in a heartbeat, for a few reasons:
1, you're a total dick with a condescending attitude toward everyone and everything
2, you have a totally over-inflated sense of self-worth
3, you're all about the praise you receive -- not the praise you deliver (and no, I know you love to LIVE FOR CUSTOMERS, blah blah, whatever that means.) I'm talking about the praise you give your colleagues. I know they suck and you're perfect, and yes, I understand you dole out sparse praise when it is "deserved." How about spending more time mentoring and teaching with patience, rather than spewing out your complaints on this blog? Be a man, dude.
4, you're a stupid puppy designed to follow manuals and practices literally, as if they were Gospel, as opposed to actually SUGGESTING that those manuals be changed, processes be improved, etc. Apparently, whenever you DO suggest changes, it's with this really bitchy "I'm better than most" attitude -- which no doubt offends your colleagues and your managers.
5, you'd be a dick to work with. no wonder so many of your colleagues hate you. you disguise this is your overall "quest for perfection" and your dedication to "The Man" and your "work ethic." But really, you sound like a civilian with a really mighty attitude and an ambition that borders on cut-throat (though without any finesse or actual skill);
So why would I fire you? I do not care about your adherence to process. I do not care about your cleaning behind the fucking milshake machines. I do not care about about your timeliness (oops, except this time). And I do not care about your stringent efforts to convince all of your "lazy" co-workers to work harder.
You clearly have no ability to lead or motivate. You clearly are in this for yourself and your own self-aggrandizment. You thrive only by throwing your current teammates under the bus -- and that's a behavior that will soon catch up with you, my friend.
Humility. Skill. PEOPLE skills.
Those things would serve you well.
One more self-absorbed post from you and I will send it to McD.hq because I'm tired of your shit.

1st of all this blog site is titled One Man's Journey as a McDonald's Manager. So it's a about his ups and downs about himself.
If only you were his manager, you could use a few things he was brought to his team and his store.
*** the majority of his team enjoy having him there.
*** customers love his lively hood and his personality which pumps up his team ( and the day's his not there it's like walking into a funeral nobody smile or greets customers) so brings a lot of pep to people there.
